• Evaluate the success of the current K-8 CLA curriculum program, and lead the Chinese team to make updates for improvement.
• Develop and lead programs that enhance students' cultural and language development, such as the Mid-Autumn Festival, Lunar New Year celebrations, and Milestone/Capstone Programs, etc.
• Develop and maintain relationships with sister schools and organizations that can support HCCS in Chinese language development and lead the activities outlined in the agreement.
• Facilitate Language Team meetings and professional development on curriculum development, student assessments, and immersion strategies.
• Mentor CLA teachers to create effective, engaging lessons, and adhere to the curriculum.
• Researches, supports, and models best practices in language immersion teaching techniques. Promote immersion training opportunities for staff, writing proposals, and presenting at the National Language Conferences.

• Update the Chinese curriculum as we see the need for improvement, and support curriculum translation with other subjects taught in Chinese (math, science, PE, art).
• Develop and Lead Chinese cultural and milestone/capstone programs.
• Mentor Chinese teachers to create engaging lessons, units, and adhere to the curriculum.
• Facilitate language team meetings, professional development, student assessments, and immersion strategies.
• Promote immersion training opportunities for the staff, and present at National Chinese Language Conferences.
• Communicate with the parent community about programs.
• Assist in grant writing for programs like STARTALK.
• Train teachers for the STARTALK program.

• Taught students subject-specific material, learning strategies and social skills.
• Instructed students in standardized subjects as well as general learning strategies and skills for social development and character.

• Design and coordinate Milestone Programs for middle school (7th grade field trip, 5th & 8th grade China trips)
• The liaison with Hope Chinese Charter School's Sister School in China.
• Communicate with sister school in China and follow up on contract activities.

• Multi-subject Chinese instruction: Chinese Language Arts, Math, Science, Art, Physical Education
• Using student centered activities that promote learning through real world problem solving
• Teaching practical skills as a foundation for lifelong learning

• Create the curriculum for the STARTALK program based and ACTFL national standards and STARTALK-Endorsed Principles for effective Teaching and Learning.
• Facilitate ongoing internal professional development to aligning Chinese teaching techniques, strategies, goals and expectations to meet the STARTALK criteria.
• Develop a culture for the STARTALK program at HCCS where students use Chinese for communication whenever and wherever they can.

• Assisting Aftercare students (Pre-K thru 6) with homework
• Planning engaging Aftercare activities

• Developing learning plans that align with the STARTALK proficiency targets
• Teaching K-5 children Chinese language and cultural lessons through developmentally and linguistically appropriate activities

Teaching and guiding K-5 Children through Mandarin Language and Literacy lessons

• Coordination and implementation of the CI’s events and outreach programming and activities
