Summary

I'm passionate about creating a positive and enjoyable learning environment for children. At Jockey Club Sarah School, I honed my ability to quickly learn and adapt to various challenges. As a home room EA at Canadian International School, I prioritized student well-being and connected with them on a personal level. Additionally, I arranged creative writing activities for Grade 3 and Year 7 students at South Island Schools and Canadian International School. Alongside my creative pursuits, I've performed as a vocalist at various venues with a group of like-minded musicians who share my belief that work should be enjoyable and fun. My creativity has been a significant asset in all areas of my life, allowing me to build meaningful connections with others.

Work History

Educational Assistant

ESF Kennedy School
Hong Kong
10.2024 - 05.2025
  • As an Educational Assistant at Kennedy School, I provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 1 student with neurodiverse needs, including Autism and ADHD.
  • My primary focus is to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment that promotes his emotional and behavioral growth as he transitions to P2.
  • I implement tailored strategies to engage him, utilizing creative activities such as drawing, coloring, timeouts, and fidget tools to help maintain calmness and focus.
  • To support and track his development I had to write daily reports on his expected and unexpected behaviors, emotions and the work completed for a weekly review.
  • This helped to support his integration into more frequent and longer days during my period of working with him.
  • I customize learning experiences based on the student's interests and strengths, empowering him to make choices in his educational journey.
  • Establishing clear boundaries and expectations is essential for creating a safe, structured environment conducive to learning.
  • I also collaborate with small groups of students on projects, such as using Garage Band to write and produce original music, which enhances their confidence and communication skills.
  • Additionally, I have worked one-on-one with a student who found writing challenging; by incorporating my music skills, we wrote raps together, which he really enjoyed and eventually led him to write more over time.
  • Furthermore, I participate in the Inclusion Team, providing support in small Year 2 reading groups and one-on-one math assistance to a Year 6 student, fostering a collaborative learning atmosphere.
  • My experience with diverse learners allows me to witness their progress and celebrate their growth in learning.

06.2014 - 05.2018
  • For the past three years, I have had the privilege of working one-on-one with a 14-year-old student with Autism.
  • This student exhibits several behaviors that include difficulty with speech, lack of eye contact, obsessive-compulsive behavior, difficulty waiting, and occasional agitated behavior that requires the use of Tech Teach techniques.
  • Throughout my time working with this student, I have successfully implemented a variety of techniques to improve their behavior.
  • We have used strategies such as exercise, token boards, teach station, social stories created with Sym Writer, iPad, basketball, and timeout.
  • By using these techniques and reinforcement strategies, we have seen tremendous improvements in the behaviors mentioned earlier.
