I am Horace Lau and I am a sophomore currently studying Finance and Big Data and Quantitative Marketing at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). I am passionate about the banking and consulting industry. I have joined the Case Competition Team of CUHK in 2021 as a generalist, undergoing training to represent CUHK to participate in international case competition in future. I also gain experiences in Case Cracking, Financial Analysis, Financial Modeling and Qualitative Market Research and currently learning Python .
During my two-year studies at CUHK, I have been acquiring a wide range of knowledge and practical skills with a major in Finance & Big Data and Quantitative Marketing while being proactive in various student association. I believe that the skills and technics that I learned in these two years are enough for me to be competent for working in the banking industry and consulting industry.
Generalist (1-11-2021 - present)
I am currently a member of the Case Competition Team of CUHK and undergoing intensive training to represent CUHK to participate in international case competition in future. I have gained exclosure in being a generalist and financialist in the case competition team. I can work under pressure to finish the case analysis within 24 hours or even just 6 hours. I am confident speaker during presentation and excel in slide making.
Public Relations (1-2-2021 - 1-2-2022)
I was the public Relations of BASO. I was responsible for building connection with other business association of different local universities and maintaining close relationship with our society's guests. I have gained proper business communication skills from these experience. Moreover, I was one of the major person in charge of the Joint University Business Dinner 2021. I had to hold a business dinner with our 500 participants amid the shadow of COVID-19, struggling to seek venue and sponsors. These experience provide me an opportunity to train my leadership and organizational skills.
