Ethnographic Fieldwork

The ethnographic research studies how institutional Buddhism adapt to modern society while maintaining historical and spiritual continuity. It analyses daily and communal practices and interactions between monastic and lay communities. Data has been gathered at three Buddhist temples in Nanyue District and their affiliated residential lay groups.
