Counslutancy and Projects

  • Smart Metrology Machine: Higher Education Commission Pakistan grant for Universities has provided sum of 15 Million PKR for local development of coordinate measurement machine to support local precision industry of Pakistan.
  • b. Sustainable Concrete 3D Printer: To design a novel additive manufacturing printer for cementitious material for sustainable living of future. The NUST university provided sum of 1 Million PKR for the project.
  • c. Maglev Motor: The local defense organization is keen for development of magnetic levitated based linear motor for defense purposes. The agency provided the sum of 5 million PKR for the purpose.
  • Crankshaft Inspection Machine: Diameter profiling of journal and crank pin | Tapper measurement of journal and crank pin | Runout of journal. Repeatability within 1 micron. Sensor resolution 0.3 micron. Phase angle resolution 0.125 degree.
  • Camshaft Inspection Machine: Cam lift curve, Cam phase angle, Bearing shaft runout, Keyway angular position, Lift velocity curve, Lift acceleration curve. Repeatability within 1 micron, Sensor resolution 0.3 micron, Phase angle resolution 0.0125 degree.
  • Distributor Control Valve Test Rig: Four different tests in one system, fully automated. A series of test are carried out in a sequence to evaluate the performance of distributor control valve used in Fiat Tractors. The test rig is developed according to European standards. Fully automated, simulating loads up to 4 tons. PUBLICATIONS
  • Transmission Fork Shift Test Rig: Fully automated hydraulic operated test rig for performance and endurance test of shift gears, Developed hydraulic endurance test rig for the static and dynamic testing of gear shift components using advance servo mechanism. Designed for automotive vendor according to Japanese OEM specification. A number of tests can be performed on this rig including load ramp test, strain test and dynamic test including fatigue and vibration test up to 15Hz and 10,000 N load. The rig can perform both smooth load ramp and high speed dynamic testing up to 20Hz.
  • Hydraulic Lift Pump Test Rig: Local OEM at Pakistan is manufacturing hydraulic pump for tractor. OEM require customized test bench for durability testing under extreme pressure of 240bars to 340 bars. The pressure will be switched from 240-340 bars after every 5 seconds for 200ms. The test will be conducted for continuous 21 days.
  • Vibration Weld Durability Test Rig: Local OEM is manufacturing parts which are in constant vibration with base frequency of 10Hz. The rig test the welds for 2hours continuously shaking the part fixed to its bed with 10Hz frequency and variable amplitude of 5mm to 12mm.
  • Shape Memory Alloy Test Bench: The shape memory alloy expands in direction of load when it’s preloaded. The test bench is required to control heating and loading to the alloy in a feedback system to measure the total strain. Test bench measures the change in load with strain on application of joule heating.
  • Double Hydraulic Actuator Internal Leakage Detection Test Bench: The Local OEM requires a test bench for internal leakage detection in an actuator at 240bars. The test rig is utilized to check all the actuator to approve the quality. The leakage at 240 bars should be less than and equal to 5 ml/min.
  • Sand Blasting and Repainting Plant: The local company repaints the oxygen cylinders after the quality check. A semi-automatic machine was developed with monorail conveyors with sandblasting, repainting and heating chamber. The production time have been reduced to 9minute storage ready cylinder.
  • Axel Torsional and Bending Fatigue Test Rig: The local OEM requires test rig for tractor axel fatigue endurance testing. The axel is tested for 100,000 cycles of torsion cycle and for bending the axel is loaded for bending at 300rpm.
  • Disc Brake Static Balancing Machine: Local OEM manufacture disc brakes for local automotive industry. After manufacturing each disc checked and balanced by removing/adding weight. The machine rotates disc at 2000 rpm and determine imbalance with an accuracy of 1degree with in 10second of time span.
  • Engine Blow-By Indicator: helps to monitor engine health and saves time and money for opening the engine for manual monitoring. The engine can be maintained as indicator depicts the engine blow by from which time for the engine repair can be deduced. The repair cost and time can be reduced before the damage to the engine is fatal with the help of Engine Blow-By Indicator.
  • Instrumentation of Toyota Prius Engine: The project is funded by British Petroleum for studying the roller follower rotation of the engine. The scope of the project covers the instrumentation of the roller follower and design of data acquisition system.
  • Automation of Engine Test Rig: The robust test rig is developed for testing the engine tribological studies. The rig is equipped with heating unit, lubrication unit and motor for powering the engine. The overall system is automated and is controlled using graphic user interface.
  • Technique and Apparatus for Engine Torque Speed Monitoring System: The project is funded by Lubrizol for studying the tappet rotation of the DOHC engine. The scope of the project covers the instrumentation of the engine head and design of data acquisition system.
