With a strong background in education, I offer expertise in curriculum development, staff and course management, as well as lecturing. The research for my PhD focused on pushing the boundaries of pedagogy through practice-led approaches. I have successfully taught English literature, creative writing, and language skills in both secondary and tertiary sectors, incorporating critical thinking skills. I am well-versed in the New Zealand Curriculum and the Hong Kong Curriculum, staying up-to-date with the latest initiatives in education. Throughout my diverse roles, I have gained extensive teaching experience in both tertiary and secondary sectors. Additionally, I have served in advisory and development roles, presented at conferences and published creative writing and academic papers. Recently, I expanded my teaching horizons to the secondary sector in Hong Kong. China has truly become a second home to me.
My research led me to closely consider notions of writing, its materiality and action, and how these aspects transact as interventional spaces in any given performance writing approach. These ideas which emerged through the field of Performance Writing were contrasted and further examined against other practitioners and relevant fields such as asemic writing and concrete / visual poetry. https://trove.nla.gov.au/work/250747262

I proudly own a yacht berthed at Waikawa Marina in the stunning Marlborough Sounds of New Zealand. To be a responsible sailor, it’s essential to master the art of reading nautical charts and navigating without reliance on GPS or other navigational equipment. Additionally, I have an acre of land in a quaint rural community in the heart of the North Island, where I graze a few goats and am in the process of planting trees whenever I return to New Zealand.
